ACHIEVE |
| Description: |
The Central Kitsap School District ACHIEVE Program is designed to support students from underrepresented populations as they undertake rigorous college preparatory coursework. The ninth grade ACHIEVE class runs for the full year as an elective credit. Students receive small group study session support two days each week. The rest of the course time is used for skills development using Washington state history and the literature from their pre-AP English class as content. Students contract to continue college preparatory classes through high school. Sophomores complete at least one honors class in English or social studies along with foreign language and appropriate math and science courses. Juniors and seniors maintain a college pre schedule that includes a minimum of two AP classes during those two years.

Second
Shot Reading |
| Description: |
This program focuses on an important reading comprehension skill—fluency. Students read a one minute “cold & hot” read. Then, they graph both of their CWPM scores. Students actively read one-on-one each day. They keep their own progress graphs and do their own record keeping. Students really like this program.
