Public Schools-The Paramount Duty
This conference is held mid-way through the Legislative
session and
provides an excellent opportunity for school directors and
administrators to:
meet with and influence legislators, find out where we are in the
budget
process and get hands-on practical strategies for communicating
about
fully funding our schools.

WASA Small Schools Conference
Sharing the Load: Lean on Me
This year's conference is designed to address the critical issues faced
by small
school district adminstrators. The program will address such issues as
urgent
fiscal decisions, staffing for new graduation requirements, legal
challenges, and
student and system accountability expectations. Keynote speakers are
Susan Johnson, 2009 Washington Teacher of the Year and Anne-Louise
Sterry.

Can!
The 2009 WASA/AWSP Summer Conference promises a great line-up of
presenters, both for keynote and concurrent sessions. Our state's
practitioners
will present nearly sixty concurrent sessions, including a full range of
best
practices for effective student learning and systems delivery.
Presenters will
address current issues such as: sound math instruction, alignment of
science
instruction to standards, effective efforts in making AYP, managing
your
schools/districts during difficult times, and ways to maximize the
stimulus support.
Leadership for the Future
Attend this year's AASA Summer Leadership Institute to experience a
dazzling
agenda for innovative thinkers! Seattle's technology leaders will join a
strong
group of presenters.

WASA New Superintendent
Workshop
WASA invites first-year
superintendents and those assuming new superintendent
positions to a two-day orientation, information and skill-building
conference. This
workshop provides a unique and invaluable opportunity to focus your
leadership
and goals for the first ninety days of your superintendency, whether you
are a
"first-time" or "seasoned" superintendent.
Sponsored by the Office of the
Superintendent of Public Instruction and
coordinated by WASA, this professional development opportunity is
specifically
created to meet the needs of those supporting special education
programs. The
workshop is held August 3-4. The Early Learning segment, held August 5,
is
offered to directors of programs for early learning.
Additional conference and registration information will be available in
May.

WASA Fall Workshop
This annual workshop joins school
and district administrators from every size
district in Washington. The rich history of this workshop is grounded in
its' strong
focus on teaching and learning to help improve the focus and energy of
the
participants in improving student performance. Participation by fiscal
directors,
human resources personnel, directors of teaching and learning,
superintendents,
board members and teacher leaders has been beneficial for
strengthening
the overall impact of schools and districts in the education reform
efforts.
