Description: This session is the first of a four-part series.
Participants do not have to attend all sessions. Research shows that an
individual teacher can have a powerful effect on his/her students even
if the school doesn't. Dr. Stone will share the research related
to what those highly effective teachers do, as presented in the McREL
publication Classroom Instruction that Works, 2nd Edition. Participants
will: 1) Receive an overview of the nine categories of instructional
strategies; 2) Understand research related to reducing variability
within a system; 3) Develop a basic understanding of the strategies
associated with the categories of Setting Objectives and Providing
Feedback, and Reinforcing Effort and Providing Recognition; and 4)
Develop plans for implementing the information as part of classroom
instruction.
About the Presenter:

internationally with school districts and educational agencies. She
