Participants will: 1) Receive an overview of the nine categories of instructional strategies; 2) Understand research related to reducing variability within a system; 3) Develop a basic understanding of the strategies associated with the categories of Setting Objectives and Providing Feedback, and Reinforcing Effort and Providing Recognition; and 4) Develop plans for implementing the information as part of classroom instruction.

About the Presenter:  Dr. BJ Stone, Principal Consultant at McREL, works nationally and internationally with school districts and educational agencies. She facilitates learning sessions with teachers, principals, district administrators and leadership teams in the areas of Balanced Leadership, research-based instructional strategies, vocabulary instruction, curriculum development, and assessment design. She is a co-author of a soon-to-be-released ASCD publication entitled Classroom Instruction that Works, 2nd Edition.
