Mike Mattos
Pyramid Response to Intervention: RTI, PLCs, and How to Respond When Students Don’t Learn

Date and Time:
Saturday, November 13, 2010, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

**NEW LOCATION**
Hudson's Bay High School
1601 E McLoughlin Blvd.
Vancouver, WA 98663

Target Audience:
K-12 Teachers, Curriculum Directors, University Education Professors, Special Education, ELL, School and District Administrators.

Description:
The most significant difference between a “traditional” school and a professional learning community is how a site responds when students don’t learn…or as Rick DuFour says, “Don’t tell me you believe that all kids can learn...tell me what you are doing about the kids that aren’t learning.” Participants will learn how to create a systematic intervention program that is highly effective and aligned with Response to Intervention (RTI) guidelines, and will leave with practical, proven PLC implementation ideas.

About the Presenter:
The leadership of Mike Mattos, principal of Pioneer Middle School in Tustin, California, has resulted in consistently outstanding student achievement. Pioneer is one of only eight schools in the nation selected as a National Professional Learning Community. Mike is the co-author of Pyramid Response to Intervention: RTI, Professional Learning Communities, and How to Respond When Students Don’t Learn, and contributed to The Collaborative Administrator and Revisiting Professional Learning Communities.
